Since 1995, Two Centre Street has raised over two million dollars toward the restoration effort. We have raised money from individual donors, musical concerts and special events. The private donations we receive are from those who believe in the worthwhile preservation effort of this important historic building without regard to faith or denomination.

In addition to private donations given every year, we’ve been the recipient of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Historical Commission, through its Massachusetts Preservation Projects Fund from 1995-1999, The Tupancy-Harris Foundation gave generously during our early effort toward restructuring the roof and emergency rewiring; and Fidelity contributed toward future restoration efforts.

The Project is extremely grateful to the Nantucket Community Preservation Committee for grants awarded from 2003-2014. With that funding we have re-shingled three elevations, undertaken a painstaking window restoration, and acquired a Master Plan which is still in use today. We’ve installed a state-of-the-art fire detection and suppression systems, underwent an electrical upgrade, spent an entire summer repainting and re-plastering the main sanctuary and then went on to install asphalt roof shingles to secure the building. Currently, we’ve been awarded a grant in FY 2014 for $160,000 towards the refurbishment of the front facade.
